Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles on Pico, one of Mid-City most famous restaurants, is changing locations. Don’t panic they are just moving from Pico Blvd., west of La Brea Avenue (the first of their five locations) a mile south to the corner of La Brea and Washington Boulevard. They are building a brand new facility and are set to open early in 2017.
According to a CNN report, Roscoes, owned by East Coast Foods, filed bankruptcy this past March, after claiming it had assets of only $50,000 while owing between $10 million and $50 million dollars. $3.2 million is owed to Daniel Beasley an employee who successfully sued them for harassment and discrimination. $4.2 million is owed to the Clifton Capitol Group.
The move and upgrade as well as another location opening in San Diego should allow them to pay their creditors back.
