For 20 years the Ballard family has been hosting an open mike Labor Day Jazz jam on 24th at Gramercy that’s become a neighborhood tradition. It was a wonderful event with a variety of artists from R&B, Blues, jazz, Gospel, Hip-Hop with numerous musicians playing the bongo’s, drums, guitar, horns, and various other instruments. They had an ice cream cart, a nacho cart, BBQ, drinks (no alcohol –that was BYOB) and jumper for the kids. It was a great family event with the party going on all day until midnight. They had an MC for the whole event who was wonderful.
