monumentAfterRealizing they had an historic jewel on their hands, Harvard Heights Neighborhood Association (HHNA) members Steve Wallis and Mark DeMan organized a restoration project for the street monument on the S.E. corner of Venice and Westmoreland. From organizer Mark DeMan who secured the grants and oversaw the work;

“What an incredible transformation and what a discovery to find such beautiful granite under all that paint. The granite once again sparkles in the sun and the lettering and corner details are distinct and lively. There is even a perfectly chiseled square period at the end of the 'Westmorelandmonumentbefore Blvd.' lettering."

First, a huge “Thank You” and acknowledgment must go out to the Los Angeles Neighborhood Initiative (LANI) for providing the preponderance of the funding via their Maintenance Matching Fund Program.

Of course, we can’t forget both United Neighborhoods Neighborhood Council (UNNC) and HHNA for providing the matching funds necessary to get the grant in the first place."

For more information about securing funds from LANI for your neighborhood beautification and revitalization project call 213-627-1822 or check out their website.
