Coincidently, as development changes are made at the Midtown Shopping Center, AMF Midtown Lanes' lease is up and it has decide not to renew.

As a result Mid-City will be losing three of the communities beloved gathering places come this summer: The Lanes, World on Wheels Skating Rink and Maria's Cafe.  The bowling alley,  Maria's and the small bar are historic design gems so if you haven't been there, now is the time to go and take a look.  Maria's in particular will be missed.  The large windows that fill the cafe with natural lighting,  the '60s design, waitresses who remember your name, the opportunity to run into neighbors,  the old school booths, comfortable counter chairs and most of all the affordable, extensive menu of classic cafe food mixed with Mexican options, made Maria's the comfort destination for our community.  The developers hope that Maria's will find a way to stay in the Center since they will be focusing on creating more restaurants for the Center. Some community members are  trying to find ways to help.
Editors Note...as of July 1st the building is closed. Maria's is taking a sabbatical as they consider their next move.
