The Neighborhood News has initiated a new community project called The Neighborhood News Seminars. We understand that knowledge is one of our most valuable community resources and wanted to create opportunities for people in our community to share their expertise and knowledge with each other.

We are going to start by providing a Free seminar a month. If it clicks with the community, we will add more.  We recently provided a seminar on Obamacare and Medicare by local resident Nita Lane at the Congregational Church of Christian Fellowship in Sugar Hill. From Carol Hall Holliday Chair of the Board of Public Relations,“Thank you Nita Lane for coordinating the presentation of two outstanding health care insurance seminars at the Congregational Church of Christian Fellowship (CCCF) on Saturday, September 14.  On behalf of Pastor, Rev. James K. McKnight and our Church Officers, we were pleased to be the first location for the launch of this outstanding Neighborhood News initiative, developed by Dianne Lawrence- to bring & share experts/facts and information with the community.

For those of us in attendance, we learned a tremendous amount about Medicare and The Affordable Health Care Act - Obamacare.  Again, thank you everyone.”

For October and November we are partnering with the Tom Bradley Family Center on Pico and will repeat this seminar

Wed. October 16 from 6 - 8pm.  On another date, to be determined, we will also have a seminar by local real estate expert Maisa Faucette on why a Living Trust instead of a will can save your estate money and headaches after you pass. Instruction will be included on how to create one. We will also be providing a seminar on Dog Obedience by dog training expert (and editor of this publication) Dianne Lawrence.  Does your dog pull on walks, bark aggressively at others, need housebreaking, just won’t listen? Find out why and how to overcome these and other typical dog obedience problems.  These seminars will take place on separate dates.
