Twenty-five people from the community attended. Mike Shull, superintendent of the Department of Recreation and Parks, came out, as well as Dana Valdez, community program director. Albert Lord from CD 10 office came by to greet everyone and let them know that Councilman Herb Wesson is willing to assist the community in their improvement efforts. Senior Lead Office Pierre Olega also offered his assistance in making the park a safer place.
Everyone got a chance to offer ideas such as adding fitness equipment, a walking trail, new playground equipment with shade, bbq grills and a few more benches, lighting and more security cameras. Everyone agreed on the need to not only make the park inviting for families but to also provide a safe place for the kids from the many surrounding schools, to hang out in.
Mike Shull gave them feedback and added they might be able to get the playground equipment right away. He knew of some new playground equipment waiting for a new home.
Jefferson Park United and Sandra Pruitt would like to invite the community to come out and be a part of this discussion.
