Armenian Genocide Protest 2014

Members of Los Angeles' Armenian Youth Federation and others marked the 99th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide by protesting in front of Los Angeles' Turkish consulate at 6300 Wilshire Blvd. April 24.

The protest, held annually, was designed to draw attention to the killing of 1.5 million Armenians by Turkish soldiers between 1915 and 1923, a massacre that has yet to be recognized as genocide by Turkey, the United States and a number of other countries. Many, however, have called the mass killing the first genocide of the 20th century.
